DR. MONICA RAMIREZ has recently joined Dr. Sommers in the practice. Dr. Ramirez graduated from the University of Texas El Paso with a B.S. in Chemistry and the University of Houston College of Optometry. She interned with Houston Eye Associates, La Nueva Casa de Amigo Optometry Clinic and the Vision Care Institute. These clinics included rotations in glaucoma, anterior segment and corneal disease, pediatrics, cataract surgery and oculoplastics. She particularly enjoys seeing young people her youngest patient being only 5 days old. Oh and Dr. Ramirez is fluent in Spanish. Dr. Ramirez resides in Galveston with her husband Ruben who is a second year ophthalmology resident at UTMB Galveston.
