Meet The Doctors


Meet Dr. Thomas

DR. THOMAS has had the honor of caring for patients at NASA Vision Center since 2010. Locally educated at the University of Houston College of Optometry and having had the opportunity to provide vision care in a variety of settings from hospitals to private practices, he is well versed in the latest treatments and technologies to improve the quality of optometric care. His experiences prior to becoming a doctor of Optometry grant him first hand knowledge of the visual demands of patients in military, law enforcement, aerospace, research and technical fields.

Dr. Thomas is also passionate about early childhood vision intervention and dedicated to assuring that children develop the vision needed to pursue the most demanding dreams. To that end he strives to utilize the most up to date treatments in myopia control and is an active participant in the American Optometric Association's InfantSEE program, which provides free eye examinations to children between the ages of 6-12 months, and the local Communities in Schools program which assists in getting eye care to school age children in need.

Meet Dr. Melody Fikkert

Dr. Melody Fikkert is proud to be a native Texan. After growing up in the Dallas area, she attended Baylor University and then went to the University of Houston where she earned her Doctorate of Optometry degree.

DR. Fikkert is proud to be the newest member of NASA Vision Center.

After practicing in the Dallas/Fort worth area for 15 years, Dr. Fikkert and her family relocated to the Houston area in 2011. Her valuable experiences include eye care for the whole family and in specialized contact lens fitting. Dr. Fikkert also participates in providing free eye exams to children through the local Communities in Schools program.

Dr. Fikkert has been described as easy-going, patient and friendly. She takes great pleasure in getting to know her patients and developing relationships with their families.

Dr. Fikkert joined NASA Vision Center after practicing with Dr. Kevin Katz for 5 years in Galveston. Dr. Fikkert's hobbies include tennis and photography. She is active in her local church where she enjoys teaching Sunday School to young children.
